Our Work

WYA has been participating in the Rio PrepComs at the UN on sustainable development. Participation to the final PrepCom and Rio Conference in Rio de Janeiro in June, 2012, will be offered to our Track A certified members. Information will be posted on the website soon; check back for more updates. For questions about participation in Rio contact our Director of Advocacy, Elyssa Koren at elyssa@wya.net.

The World Youth Alliance trains young people to promote the

dignity of the person in international agreements and institutions.

The United Nations:

WYA participates directly at the UN, offering language proposals, sharing grassroots experiences and working one-on-one with delegates to develop person-centered policies. We bring youth delegates to various annual UN commissions, including: the Commission for Social Development, the Commission on the Status of Women, and the Commission on Population and Development.

This year, WYA is also participating in the biennial International AIDS Conference and the Rio +20 Conference on Sustainable Development.

Members can participate at the UN by: Applying for an Advocacy Fellowship (law students only), applying for a WYA Headquarters internship in New York, or inquiring about attending a specific commission/conference. See our Youth Voices at the UN Program for opportunities.

WYA also maintains a presence at the European Union Institutions (EU), and the Organization of American states (OAS).
