WYA Newsletters | November 2005

Dear Friends,
See this month’s newsletter for recent and upcoming World Youth Alliance conferences!

The World Youth Alliance interns in New York City recently attended the film premiere “39 Pounds of Love”. The film documents the life of a man who was told that he would not live past the age of 6. He is now 34 years old, weighs only 39 pounds, and just took the adventure of a lifetime. The interns are inspired by his life and story - it is something to keep in mind as the United Nations continues to work towards a draft convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in January . . .

For a Culture of Life,
The World Youth Alliance

The faces of the World Youth Alliance
We are still collecting photographs of our members in digital passport-size photographs. We will combine these photographs to make a giant picture collage for a wall in our new house. We look forward to receiving your photographs! Send photographs to wya@wya.net.

The “Survival of the Fittest” Conference on eugenics held in Vienna on October 17th provided an opportunity for 150 young Austrians to engage in a discussion about some of the major violations of human dignity in European history and their ideological link with developments in the field of human genetics today. By assessing the impact of ideas on policy, the WYA aims to develop its cultural response in a way that will help reawaken the conscience of Europe and reaffirm the dignity of the human person.
