Africa
Introductory Visit to Uganda: 15th to 19th June 2006
The World Youth Alliance will make their first visit to Uganda on 15th to 19th June 2006. The visit is primarily to meet young people and train them on what we do and possibly meet government officials and representatives of youth organizations.  We encourage members in Uganda to join us, if interested contact esther@worldyouthalliance.org or Saidi Lwanga from Uganda at saidiug@yahoo.com

Members on Track: Certified Training Program Trip 7th to 30th July
Members from Nigeria, Rwanda and Kenya will have a chance to meet one of the World Youth Alliance representatives to discuss in depth how we can start exercising the ideas, presented in the training materials, into practical projects. Leadership Seminar
The World Youth Alliance believes that formation of young people through training on the dignity of the person is the key to solving the problems we face in the world today.  As young people we are the generation that will be the earth's future stewards and leaders.  To meet this challenge, we must foster responsible leadership in every society with a personal commitment to care for both earth and neighbor. The seminar will bring together youth leaders to discuss the key elements of and good governance.     

Activating Younger members of the Alliance: Essay Writing Competition from June to August 2006
October 2005 to October 2006 is the year of Habitat. As part of the Viviamo Campaign we invite our members aged between 13 and 18 to participate in this contest. The theme of the essay writing will be 'the beauty in my habitat'. The project begins in June 2006 and will run up until August 2006 when the final winners of the contest will be selected.

Asia Pacific
WYA at the Ateneo de Manila!
The Asia Pacific office is working on a pilot WYA organization that will be based in the university. The pilot organization will be launched at the Ateneo de Manila University this school year. WYA Europe invites you to apply for 'Viviamo - the Art of Living' Summer School
The Viviamo Summer School will take place in Targu-Mures, Romania from 17th - 28th July 2006. The two week programme of talks and cultural trips will build up solidarity and expertise amongst members from across the region and enable participants to get through Track A training. Track A travels to London, England, 23rd to 25th June
WYA Europe staff is encouraging all potential National Committee Members to finish Track A WYA basic certification by September 2006 in order to qualify for Committee positions. This forthcoming training weekend in London will enable participants to make major progress by studying and discussing Track A materials together. Email europe@wya.net for more information

European Director to visit Italy, Germany and UK
After a very successful visit to Poland, Emilia Klepacka will be visiting Milan, Rome, Cambridge, London and Fulda (Germany) in the coming weeks in order to meet and train members and develop contacts with potential National Committee Members, academics, authors and partner organisations. Conference
WYA Latinamerican Staff, participated on May 22nd and 23rd in the Conference Seminario Internacional de Liderazgo Internacional "Organización-Acción; logrando que las cosas sucedan" (making things happen).  The purpose of the Conference was to present the right tools for undersanding politics and for effectively building and understanding civil society organizations.

WYA NA bids goodbye to Cole, welcomes new staff
Regional Director Cole Siemion will be leaving us in June to attend law school at Georgetown. Current D.O. Megan Furman will take his place as Director of North America. We will welcome Jeff Nichols as new Director of Operations. Jeff formerly taught English in high schools in Gulfport, Mississippi and Santiago, Chile

Viviamo! preparation at World Urban Forum in Vancouver
Director of North America Cole Siemion will travel with intern Simon Fung to the World Urban Forum III in Vancouver, B.C. to showcase our Viviamo! partner organizations.  At the Forum, we will showcase person-centered development initiatives of our partner organizations.

2006 UN High Level Meeting on AIDS
Staff and interns, including Hezbon Mogambi of Africa, will attend at High Level Meeting at the United Nations from May 31 - June 2 in preparation for our visit to the XVI International AIDS Conference in Toronto in August. The June meeting will examine implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS.
