World Youth Alliance Chamber Orchestra debut performance

The World Youth Alliance Chamber Orchestra is an ensemble of young string musicians seeking to place their efforts as performing artists at the service of inspiring international cooperation.  Reflecting the ideals of the World Youth Alliance, this ensemble aims to engage audiences in an experience of human dignity, authentic freedom, and solidarity.  

The World Youth Alliance Chamber Orchestra will present its debut public performance on Sunday, September 19th, 2pm at the Church of Saint Vincent Ferrer in Manhattan.

"Classical Music for Kids"

WYA invites children of all ages to explore the sounds and movements of classical music!  

Professional performing artists will present three interactive performances designed to engage families in a deeper appreciation of music and dance.  

Sunday, November 7th, 2010, 3 pm

MUSIC IS EMOTION!

Join a vocalist and a violinist to witness the power of classical music to express the broadest spectrum of human emotion. Works by Mozart, Paganini, Massenet, Beethoven, Bizet, and Elgar will be performed, interspersed with commentary and theatrical episodes highlighting music's power to express emotional intensity.

MUSIC IS MOVEMENT!

The colorful costumes and vivid choreography of professional dancers performing to live string music will reveal the natural connection between music and movement.  Works by Bach, Tchaikovsky, Piazzolla, and Copland will engage the audience to move with the music!

MUSIC TELLS A STORY!

Witness the passion and exuberance of the World Youth Alliance Chamber Orchestra, an ensemble of young musicians committed to affirming the value of human life through their work as artists. Following the performance, children in attendance will have the opportunity to play on size-appropriate string instruments.

All performances will be held at the World Youth Alliance Headquarters (228 E. 71st Street).  

Performances will be 30-40 minutes in length, followed by an opportunity to meet the performers. 

Single tickets: $7 in advance, $10 at door

Family packages: $20 per family per concert, $50 for a family subscription to all 3 performances

*All family packages must be purchased in advance of performance dates
