What is the World Youth Alliance?

What is the Africa Emerging Leaders Conference?

The Africa Emerging Leaders Conference – AELC is an annual World Youth Alliance event that brings together youth from across Africa to interact with leaders and policy makers on current global issues through lectures and discussions. In addition, a rich display of culture is enjoyed through the sessions at the conference.

Who is invited for the AELC?

Youth aged between 16 -30 years.

Why is it important and worthwhile?


This year’s theme will focus on the “Economic Development and the Family” The role youth play which resonates with the global focus on the family this being the 20th Anniversary of the International year of the family. It will enable youth to engage ideas that are of importance to young people on the continent of Africa to understand how we can contribute to a better Africa and it turn a better world in solidarity as the Emerging Leaders in the Africa continent!

What logistics will be provided?


Lunch and snacks will be provided for the two days of the Conference. All travel expenses will be borne by the participants. Guidance to the economical options available for accommodation will be communicated to participants in due course so as to enable secure and affordable days in Nairobi. WYA Africa will not finance accommodation. Payments for accommodation will be made by the participants.

How will Visas be processed for participants outside Kenya?


Kenya allows visa waivers for many countries. Please check with the Kenya Department of Immigration HERE to confirm whether you require a Visa in addition to many other requirements for entry into Kenya. Each participant will be required to have official travel documents (passports or otherwise). Supporting letters and documents from WYA Africa will be provided for this purpose.

What is the cost of the Conference?


The conference will cost 2,000 Kenya Shillings per participant. This will cater for conference fees, the folders with information, food, snacks and entertainment for the two day conference

How do I make payments?

All participants residing in Kenya will make payments to the World Youth Alliance MPESA number +254 713 906 471 by 30thSeptember 2014. Confirmations for the event are required prior to attendance as per deadlines below.
