Regional Internship Program/Programa de pasantía regional


Objectives

To identify and train young leaders to communicate articulately on behalf of the intrinsic dignity of the human person and a culture of life. To develop a vocabulary with which to engage the international community and larger culture on issues relating to the dignity of the person, human rights, and integral development.

 

What We're Looking For

The World Youth Alliance is looking for leaders with a strong desire to protect and promote human dignity while making a positive impact on society. What You Stand to Gain

As an intern, you’ll develop skills highly valued in the professional world such as project management, presentation, communication and time management skills. Furthermore, you will gain the ability to manage multiple projects, develop interpersonal skills, and solve problems. You’ll be exposed to diverse cultures from around the world through your fellow interns; you’ll learn to collaborate, to be adaptive, to build rapport and to self-reflect for continued personal growth.

 

Introductory Training

All interns will receive introductory training at the World Youth Alliance Latin America headquarters in Mexico City throughout the course of their internships.  Interns will receive basic training from WYA staff in the following areas:

  • Human rights philosophy.

     

  • The dignity of the human person as the basis for all human rights.

     

  • Recent trends in international policy.

     

  • Language of UN documents and treaties.

     

  • Basic diplomacy and negotiation.

     

What you’ll be doing:


To get a better sense of what is expected of interns, take a look at the intern job description.

Job Description: To speak accurately and professionally about the World Youth Alliance. To lead various projects and maintain communications with staff and other interns. To maintain a clean and orderly working and living environment. To help organize events, both local and international, while fulfilling clerical and administrative duties. To actively participate in weekly training sessions and meetings.

Note: Each internship is two to six months in duration.

Travel

Interns are responsible for their own travel to and from New York City or Mexico City, as well as responsible for all transportation throughout the internship, e.g. purchase of metro cards, cab fare, and the like.


Accommodations

Interns will be hosted by the World Youth Alliance in a private residence a short walk from the WYA offices.  Interns are  responsible for purchasing and preparing their own meals.

The Latin American Internship Program is open to all World Youth Alliance members in the Latin American region between the ages of 18 and 29.

All internships will be coordinated and supervised by the Regional Directors of the Latin American office. In order to be eligible for internship the member must accredit Track A training from our Certified Training Program. For more information abour our CTP enter our training section.
