Conference Details Program Application Details Fees FAQ Resources

The Emerging Leaders Conference (ELC) is an annual event of World Youth Alliance Asia Pacific (WYAAP) for young individuals to learn about the salient issues of today and how they can apply their roles as leaders through a variety of talks, forums and interactive activities. Participants will have the opportunity to share their ideas and build networks with other youth leaders from the Asia Pacific region. It also serves as venue for young people to engage in cultural exchanges. This will strengthen a region-wide cooperation among Asia Pacific youth to implement projects among participating individuals and organizations, as well as explore possibilities for project collaboration, laying the groundwork for long-term partnerships.

Theme

This 2015, the WYAAP ELC will tackle the theme “Redefining Education: Breaking Barriers, Empowering the Asia Pacific Youth.”

The best way to ensure that the youth and future generations function advantageously for the benefit of their future is to collectively and constantly advance and expand one of the most fundamental elements of the development of every individual: education. But what we have to realize is that formal education is not the only key in attaining success in life. There are so many lessons to be learned outside the classroom setting. To empower the youth is to encourage them to take part in addressing societal issues that need creative solutions. The 21st Century is an era of technology that puts education closer to the youth. However, how can we maximize its potential help and utilize its role in making it happen?

Date and Venue

The 4th WYAAP ELC will be held at The Bayleaf Hotel, Manila, Philippines from October 15-17, 2015. The Bayleaf is located within Manila’s historic “walled city” Intramuros. This was also where the first and second WYAAP ELC were held.
