In order to address contemporary myths and trends regarding manhood and masculinity in North America, this year’s ELC seeks to examine the role of men in the context of the family.
With the issue of the redefinition of family at the forefront of national and international discourse, the Emerging Leaders Conference (ELC) aims to equip young people with the knowledge they need to critically evaluate contemporary cultural norms. As we look around the world today, we are bombarded with views of the ideal man: cool, suave, sexy: he is disinterested and disengaged, mistaking the pursuit of pleasure for the pursuit of happiness. But what does this mean for the future of the family?
Examining the changing landscape of the family, and the struggles faced by young men in particular, this year’s Emerging Leaders Conference (ELC) will serve to affirm the role of men, the important role of men in the context of the family and the importance of the family to the flourishing of society.
Registration ends on Oct 30, 2014.
