Vanessa Cherese Scholarship Fund 2019 Crowdfunding Campaign
June 1 - July 14USD1,500
This is one of the amazing initiatives WYA Africa is undertaking this 2019 called the Vanessa Cherese Scholarship Fund, in honour of our staff Vanessa Cherese Oyugi who passed away in September 2016, at 26 years. She was our Regional Director of Operations at the time of her passing, and was passionate to see youth in Africa afforded opportunities to grow and have experiences that will enable them to be the positive change makers in the defense of human dignity that the world needs. For this reason, we sought to keep the dream alive by setting up this fund to assist us in sending a deserving young person from World Youth Alliance Africa to undertake the International Internship (Volunteer), which includes training and opportunities to engage with other youth and within the United Nations in New York.
In 2018 we embarked on a search that allowed us to select Mr. David Kisache, a Kenyan and a graduate from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. He is well known to us having undertaken a 3 month regional internship in 2017, completed the Certified Training Program, undertaken the Advocacy Exam, and is currently serving as a volunteer to the World Youth Alliance Africa, Kenya, as well as continuing to work in community impact initiatives at Green Kenya. He is the second to be selected after the successful completion of the same programme by Ms. Pamella Oddotte, who had a great experience in 2018 to have been sponsored to the same programme.
We are excited to be one step into our goal. We already have the visa confirmation for Mr. Kisache, and he is scheduled to join the Batch 3, 2019 internship from August to December 2019 in New York, USA. We are looking to raise USD 1500/Kes 150,000 by June 2019 and all your efforts to assist us will go such a long way to achieve our goal. The contribution details are here.
