About the Emerging Leaders Conference

Following the immensely successful 3rd Emerging Leaders Conference held in Brussels last year, WYA Europe is delighted to announce its 4th edition. This year’s conference theme is Population and Environment: Building a Sustainable World and it will take place in Brussels from the 27th to the 30th of November, 2016. While putting the focus on innovative solutions and ideas that respond to population- or environment- related issues, the conference aims to provide Europe youth with accurate information on the status of our environment, identify and examine the emerging challenges and promote responsible stewardship.

The Emerging Leaders Conference (ELC) is an annual event hosted by World Youth Alliance Europe, which seeks to bring together young leaders, active members and youth advocates from across Europe to interact with policy makers, experts and leaders on current global issues. It also provides young individuals with special training on programs in those areas to give them the adequate tools to make a difference in their own communities. Known for its intimate forum for dialogue, as well as intellectual formation via lectures and discussions, the ELC fosters a meaningful network of friendships based on a shared vision of the human person.

‘The World Youth Alliance affirms that human beings are the earth’s greatest source of potential solutions for authentic development. Their unlimited creative capacities, a reflection of their inherent dignity, enable persons to harness the knowledge and skills which drive authentic development. When we ensure every human has their fundamental needs met, we are equipping people to be creative problem solvers. Governments should support people through just laws, institutions, infrastructures, and decent working conditions. Having those needs met helps people become agents of authentic development’.
