The 5k Run for Dignity is part of the Emerging Leaders Conference, an annual event hosted by the World Youth Alliance, which seeks to familiarize the public with the annual WYA theme through engaging lectures, community gatherings, and cultural activities. In light of the U.N. Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio, Brazil, the World Youth Alliance’s 2012 annual theme is sustainable development. The Emerging Leaders Conference will invite attendees to understand that in order for development to be truly sustainable, it must be person-centered. The Run for Dignity is an opportunity for the general public to show their support for promoting human dignity in policy & in culture.
