International Solidarity Forum 2007

ISF
Population and Development: Changing age structures

Date: 10-14 April
Location: United Nations Headquarters, New York

Thank you for your interest in the 2007 International Solidarity Forum (ISF).  The World Youth Alliance is very pleased to have so many talented and committed applicants.  The ISF is a yearly event of the World Youth Alliance for some of our most dedicated members from around the world.  The ISF is a perfect opportunity for growth to take place while also offering real experience at the highest level of international consensus-building and policy development.

This year the ISF coincides with the 40th session of the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) as organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The official theme of the ISF and the CPD will be the following: The Changing Age Structures of Populations and their Implications for Development.

47 Member States elected by the Economic and Social Council will have representation at the Commission.  The CPD will serve to play the primary role in the follow-up to the implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development which was drafted in Cairo in 1994.  In addition, the Commission will provide the ECOSOC with recommendations on the basis of integrated consideration of the reports and issues related to the implementation of the Programme of Action.

This will be the forum and backdrop in which the International Solidarity Forum will take place.  The ISF is a yearly event of the World Youth Alliance for some of our most dedicated members from around the world. The ISF trains these members to better understand the work of the World Youth Alliance at the UN.

As an accredited non-governmental organization, the World Youth Alliance works directly with delegates of permanent missions to the United Nations from all corners of the world.  It is imperative that WYA members are able to articulate our goals and ideas in the most effective manner.

The ISF is a perfect opportunity for such growth to take place while also offering real experience at the highest level of international consensus-building and policy development.  The delegates of permanent missions to the United Nations have come to look forward to the ISF as an annual event.  Thank you for your interest in the 2007 ISF; we hope to see you in New York this April.
