WYAME is pleased to invite you to its debate training, organized in collaboration with The International Debate Education Association (IDEA MENA). IDEA is a global network of organizations that value debate as a way to give young people a voice, with entities in the Netherlands, USA, UK, Macedonia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tunisia.
The aim of this debate training is to introduce the culture of academic debate to WYAME members in order to strengthen their critical thinking and raise their awareness to different local and global topics and issues raised in different debates, as well as give WYAME members a platform to speak up freely and raise their voice.
About the Trainer:
Wafa Garbout, a Tunisian MEPI Tomorrow’s Leaders scholar at the Lebanese American University in Beirut, majoring in Political Science: International Affairs, with a minor in Conflict Analysis and Resolution. Garbout is a debate trainer with IDEA MENA in Beirut since 2015. She has been also involved in Young Arab Voices in Tunisia, USA Youth Debates in Morocco in which her team was ranked the 2nd in USA-Maghreb Youth Debates 2014, and Qatar Debate in which she was classified among best 10 speakers in the 4th International Universities Arabic Debating Championship in Doha 2017. She is also the founder and president of the Debate club at her university LAU in Byblos.
Garbout is also a social activist and she has been working with different local and international organizations in both Tunisia and Lebanon. She is also a co-founder of Weyouth NGO in Sfax-Tunisia and played different leadership roles within this youth-led NGO.
