PANAYAM: Making Sense of it All

Founded in 1999, the World Youth Alliance is a global movement of over 1,000,000 young people, all 16 to 30 years of age, from over 100 nationalities. The World Youth Alliance (WYA) promotes the dignity of the human person at the international level by working with policymakers at the United Nations and European Union; builds solidarity between developed and developing worlds through activities and programs for its diverse and dynamic membership and builds a culture of life. World Youth Alliance received its UN ECOSOC status in May, 2004.

In January 2006, the World Youth Alliance Asia Pacific will launch PANAYAM, a series of two discussion forums. PANAYAM is a venue for young people to learn more about and discuss varying international issues that threaten the dignity of the human person today. These topics focus on development in the arena of HIV/AIDS, Cloning, Human Trafficking, Housing and Human Settlements with the framework of the Millennium Development Goals. PANAYAM is aiming to bring 70 of the best and brightest young people together seventy (70) for each session.

PANAYAM aims to foster a deeper understanding of the issues confronting the human person and society, while developing a sense of commitment among the youth of the country. It seeks to encourage them to engage in viable ways of resolving the problems not only faced by the country but also of the greater international community.

This discussion series is a local counterpart and will be the regional contribution to the International Solidarity Forum in New York City where youths from all over the world will come together.
