Vienna – Saturday 6th May
Party marking launch of WYA Europe’s celebration of ‘Europe Day’
Dear Friends!
Many of you may not know that 9th of May is officially ‘Europe Day’ – together with the EU flag, anthem, motto & currency, this day has become a symbol, identifying the political entity of the European Union. Europe Day is the occasion for activities and festivities that bring Europe closer to its citizens and peoples of the Union closer to one another.

The day marks the occasion on which Robert Schuman presented his proposal on the creation of an organised Europe.  The Schuman Declaration was presented on 9th of May 1950 as indispensable to the maintenance of peaceful relations. It is now considered to be the beginning of the creation of the European Union.
