WYA Goes to Saint Lucia

The World Youth Alliance will visit schools around Saint Lucia to present an introduction of WYA’s mission, provide information about opportunities for starting a chapter, and invite students to sign the WYA charter in order to become WYA members.  Additionally, WYA will be selecting 25 exceptional student candidates to participate in the first WYA Camp in the Caribbean: WYA Camp, Saint Lucia.  The camp will take place at Corinth Secondary School December 17-20.  The camp will be an opportunity for students to learn about the dignity of the human person, how this relates to true solidarity and authentic freedom, as well as the ways in which these ideas can inform our approach to contemporary issues facing the United Nations and beyond.

Teachers have been asked to nominate top students for WYA Camp, Saint Lucia. Nominated students will receive an application from their teacher. The deadline for students to submit their completed applications via email to northamerica@wya.net will be December 10, 2012.  Candidates must currently be enrolled in high school and between the ages of 14 and 18.

School visits will be conducted December 10-12 at the following schools: Saint Joseph’s Convent, Saint Mary’s College, Castries Comprehensive, and Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.  In addition to classroom presentations, WYA will meet with selected student applicants for a brief interview.  All applicants will receive confirmation of their acceptance by December 12.
