World Youth Alliance Latin America is pleased to announce the launch of the WYA Chapter at the University of Piura, led by Lorena Puicon and María Fernanda Ruiz, certified members of WYALA. This chapter is expected to continue promoting Human Dignity within the University of Piura and to expand the mission of WYA within the University hand in hand with its advisor, Susana Raggio.
Meet Lorena!
Lorena Puicon is 20 years old and is a final year student of the Business Administration career at the University of Piura, Peru. She is interested in getting involved in social projects and volunteering that help people most in need. She currently works as Director of Talent Management at SEDIPRO UDEP, and at the same time is president of the University Board of the Carel Cultural Center.
Lorena is characterized by being a communicative, helpful person, with leadership capacity and who always seeks to learn new things that are linked to education, culture and respect for the rights of people, especially those of women. She met the WYA through her University in July 2020. From the beginning, she agreed with the mission, values and principles of the WYA. Lorena began to attend the different conferences organized by WYA, she did her internship with WYALA in Project Management in the first Batch of 2021, she successfully completed the CTP and currently, she is a WYALA trainer.
Meet María Fernanda!
Maria Fernanda Concepción Ruiz Robles is 20 years old and is a sixth cycle Business Administration student at the University of Piura. Among her passions, María Fernanda is passionate about dancing and she is currently part of the Cast of Folk Dances UDEP. She is also passionate about participating in volunteering, now she is vice president of UNIVAS, UDEP volunteering and within her faculty she belongs to SÚMATE, an organization that is responsible for promoting solidarity and union.
Like Lorena, María Fernanda knew about WYA and the CTP in the first semester of 2020 thanks to her University. Maria Fernanda affirms that WYA has helped her to build a much more critical thinking and to learn more about the concept of human dignity.
Meet Susana!
She was born and raised in Piura, Peru. She is passionate about literature, art, culture, adventure, meeting new people and always determined to face new challenges. She has a Law Degree. At the end of her career, she decided to ask for her admission to be part of it as Numeraria of Opus Dei, who later offered to study theology in Rome. In addition, Susana has worked for more than 10 years in cultural projects focused on the search for the good of women and children from different parts of the world, as well as in the fight to defend human dignity, promoted and developed by Opus Dei together with international institutions from countries such as Russia, India, Spain, Kazakhstan among others.
Currently, she works as Head of University Life, an area that seeks to promote the development of training projects for students at the University of Piura. Upon learning about WYA, she decided to investigate more about it and that is why she decided to join in July 2020, attending the Certified Training Program (CTP). Since then she has been an active member, working and attending the events organized by WYA, as well as, encouraging more young people to meet and be encouraged to train in WYA.
“Help shape the heads and hearts of students, so that they can continue to promote the dignity of the person from the area in which they are and through their careers,” shared Susana.
Lorena and María Fernanda, hand in hand with Susana, are eager to start this new and enriching journey. They are sure that by coordinating the Chapter they will be able to transmit to many more people the concept and importance of human dignity.
World Youth Alliance Latin America wishes the best to the new members of the WYA Chapter at the University of Piura, hoping that they will do an excellent job promoting Human Dignity and the mission of WYA at their University.

Se espera que este capítulo siga promoviendo la Dignidad Humana dentro de la Universidad de Piura y logre expandir la misión de WYA dentro de la Universidad de la mano con su asesora, Susana Raggio.

Lorena Puicon tiene 20 años y es estudiante de último año de la carrera de Administración de Empresas en la Universidad de Piura, Perú. Le interesa involucrarse en proyectos sociales y voluntariados que permitan ayudar a las personas más necesitadas. Actualmente se desempeña como Directora de Gestión de Talento en SEDIPRO UDEP, y a la vez es presidenta de la Directiva Universitarias del Centro Cultural Carel.
Lorena se caracteriza por ser una persona comunicativa, servicial, con capacidad de liderazgo y que busca siempre aprender nuevas cosas que estén ligadas con la educación, la cultura y el respeto de los derechos de las personas, sobre todo los de las mujeres. Conoció a la WYA por medio de su Universidad en julio del 2020. Desde el principio, coincidió con la misión, valores y principios de la WYA. Lorena empezó a asistir a las diferentes conferencias organizadas por WYA, realizó su pasantía con WYALA en Gestión de Proyectos en el primer Batch de 2021, culminó satisfactoriamente el CTP y actualmente, es entrenadora de WYALA.
¡Conoce a María Fernanda!
Maria Fernanda Concepción Ruiz Robles tiene 20 años y es estudiante de sexto ciclo de Administración de Empresas en la Universidad de Piura. Dentro de sus pasiones, María Fernanda le apasiona bailar y actualmente hace parte del Elenco de Danzas Folclóricas UDEP. También le apasiona participar en voluntariados, ahora es vicepresidenta de UNIVAS, voluntariado de UDEP y dentro de su facultad pertenece a SÚMATE, Organización que se encarga de fomentar la solidaridad y unión de la misma.
Al igual que Lorena, María Fernanda conocía sobre WYA y sobre el CTP en el primer semestre de 2020 gracias a su Universidad. Maria Fernanda afirma que WYA le ha ayudado a construir un pensamiento mucho más crítico y a conocer más a fondo sobre el concepto de dignidad humana.
¡Conoce a Susana!
Nació y creció en Piura, Perú. Apasionada por la literatura, el arte, la cultura, la aventura, conocer nuevas personas y siempre decidida afrontar nuevos retos. Cuenta con una Licenciatura en Derecho. Al término de su carrera, decidió pedir su admisión para formar parte como Numeraria del Opus Dei, quienes luego le ofrecen estudiar la carrera de Teología en Roma. Además, Susana ha trabajado por más de 10 años en proyectos culturales enfocados en la búsqueda del bien de las mujeres y niños de las diferentes partes del mundo, así como en la lucha de la defensa de la dignidad humana, promovidos y desarrollados por el Opus Dei junto a instituciones internacionales de países como Rusia, India, España, Kazakhstan entre otros.
Actualmente, se desempeña como Jefa de Vida Universitaria, área que busca promover el desarrollo de proyectos formativos para estudiantes de la Universidad de Piura. Al conocer sobre WYA, decidió investigar más sobre ella y es por ello que decide unirse en julio del 2020, asistiendo al Certified Training Program (CTP). Desde entonces viene siendo un miembro activo, trabajando y asistiendo a los eventos organizados por WYA, así como, alentando a que más jóvenes conozcan y se animen a formarse en WYA.
“Ayudar a formar las cabezas y los corazones de los estudiantes, con el fin de que puedan seguir impulsando la dignidad de la persona desde el ámbito en que se encuentren y por medio de sus carreras”, comparte Susana.
Lorena y María Fernanda, de la mano con Susana, se encuentran ansiosas de iniciar esta nueva y enriquecedora travesía. Están seguras, que mediante la coordinación del Capítulo podrán transmitir a muchas más personas el concepto y la importancia de la dignidad humana.
World Youth Alliance Latin America desea lo mejor a las nuevas integrantes del Capítulo WYA en la Universidad de Piura, esperando que realicen un excelente trabajo promoviendo la Dignidad Humana y la misión de WYA en su Universidad.
