The young musicians with Alexis Kende, Director of Cultural ProgramsThe WYA Chamber Orchestra, composed of talented young musicians that are “committed to excellence in the experience of dignity through music” will be performing in several places around Madrid for this year’s World Youth Day (August 16th- August 21st).
Here’s a detailed schedule of their performances:
Tuesday, August 16th
Event: WYA Chamber Orchestra musicians will perform during a Lectio Divina service for a small group of Latin American youth. Following the service, the orchestra musicians and a youth choir from St. Lucia will present a short concert program.

Wednesday, August 17th
Event: WYA Chamber Orchestra musicians will perform during a Lectio Divina service for a larger group of Latin American youth. Bishop Diego Padron will speak.

Thursday, August 18th
Event: WYA Chamber Orchestra musicians will perform background music at a private cocktail reception and dinner for 65 US bishops. This is a closed event, by invitation only.

Friday, August 19th
Event: WYA Chamber Orchestra musicians will perform at “Music and Lectio Divina”, a large stadium event featuring a variety of musicians and speakers organized by the American Bible Society.
