Earlier this month, I had the excellent opportunity to participate in the Coordination of Youth Workers of Tomorrow (CYWT) event in the beautiful cold city of Munich.
First of all, I would like to congratulate the members responsible for organising this meeting for their attention not only to the well-being, but to the detail given to all participants and projects carried out during those days. Although it lasted only four days, the knowledge gained through the projects and the resulting discussion was much greater than ever expected. One detail that I found especially interesting was the introduction of the topics that would be addressed throughout the week, in order to answer the important questions to be drawn from the event: Why? What? How? What about now? Through these questions we were able to set concrete daily goals, so that in the various activities we were feeling more and more able to answer these sometimes complex questions in order to develop tools for spreading a message.
In my opinion, one of the most interesting days was the one when we were given a White Paper, written by WYA, from which we took some topics to explain to the other participants the content and perspective and at the same time discuss our personal opinions. The fact that we not only have a better understanding of WYA’s position on these sensitive issues, but also gave a presentation on it, was an activity which, from what I have gathered with other participants, was extremely relevant for the enrichment of everyone present at the event.
What appeals to me about WYA is that it is not like most organizations that claim to uphold the ideals of young people, but in reality don’t even know what their ideals are. Events like this provide an excellent occasion for young people across Europe and beyond to have an opportunity to initiate dialogue, provide everyone with a variety of perspectives on a wide range of issues and really come up with an idea of what the goals of young people in the world are. Although we are only a group of twenty young people, I can assure you that we have had numerous discussions about the problems that affect us at the time. Perhaps these conversations have only emerged as a survival mechanism for our bodies to keep us warm but surely central to our personal development. This small but intense week will surely be in our minds and will surely equip everyone with the tools to spread the word about this great organization and its message.
