Congratulations to the One of Us European Citizen’s Initiative who have reached 1 Million signatures to demand the EU to ensure the "full protection of the human being as the first and fundamental right in the society. ECI rules petitions require a minimum number of signatures in at least 7 member states. As of Thursday September 12, 2013, a total of 11 countries (Austria, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Spain) have fulfilled this requirement. In addition, over 1,000,000 citizens have supported the petition by signing it, thus contributing to fulfill the other requirement. With this achievement One of Us becomes the second European Citizens’ Initiative to reach the requirements established by the Commission. We would like to thank our Members, particularily our Croatian Members, for their work on it.
The World Youth Alliance is composed of young men and women from every part of the world. In cooperation with other organs of the international community, primarily the United Nations and the European Union, the World Youth Alliance is committed to building free and just societies through a culture of life. We are convinced that the intrinsic dignity possessed by every human being from conception to natural death is the foundation of everyone’s right to life. We believe that this inalienable right to life is the basis of a free and just society and we believe that society through law and culture has an obligation to protect the dignity of the person and thus protect the right to life.
