Summer’s Last Hurrah! : WYAAP 2nd DigniTea Party of the Year
As the summer season is about to end, the World Youth Alliance Asia Pacific (WYAAP) held its 2nd DigniTea Party last May 17, 2013. With the theme "Summer’s Last Hurrah", the WYAAP wanted to celebrate by bringing together members, volunteers as well as current and past interns. Young individuals who were interested in joining the WYAAP family also attended the event.
The new batch of interns transformed the Regional Office into a party place, decorating it with beach images and bright colors. They were also guided with the theme of the party, which is luau.
To start the program, Ms. Christine Violago, the Regional Director of World Youth Alliance Asia Pacific, introduced WYA to the new members. She shared with the group the history, mission and the benefits of becoming a member of WYA. After that, the current interns introduced themselves to the group.
After the formalities and introductions, the real fun started. New members from Riverside Youth Organization and Youth Federation of Marikina performed and serenaded the guests. On the other hand, the games made the members interact while having fun at the same time. The first game made members guess the word that was labeled behind their backs. And to stay true the theme of the night, the last game was limbo rock. Everyone was ecstatic and cheered when participants showed their flexibility and dance skills.
Towards the end of the event, Ms. Christine shared the upcoming projects and activities of WYAAP for the quarter. Some members already expressed their interest in joining some of the events. The party officially ended with a picture taking of the whole group. All in all, the DigniTea Party was not only fun and games, but it was also a way for members to meet with others, to build and foster friendships.
