The World Youth Alliance – Middle East office acting as the implementing agency for the UNDEF’s Project “Emerging Leaders of the Arab Region”, held a Training of Trainers-ToT in Beirut, Lebanon. The training took place in Rotana Hotel, Beirut, from 24th till 27th of February 2015 with the participation of 20 opinion shapers from Lebanon, Jordan, Tunisia and Morocco.
The ToT was the first practical step towards building the capacity of 20 young trainers in order to empower them to play a concrete role in connecting 600 youngsters in the Arab region by delivering 40 national workshops and 80 community activities around the three following modules:
1. Human Rights and Dignity
2. Freedom and Democracy
3. Civic Engagement and Leadership Skills
The training was highlighted by the presence of four local and international guest experts who shared their experience with the young opinion shapers of the Arab region. Clare Halpine and Weronika Janczuk , from World Youth Alliance’s Family, who conducted the Track A training on Human Dignity, Human Rights and Freedom. Dr. Elie Samia, the assistant Vice president of the Outreach and Civic Engagement at the Lebanese American University, who gave the training on civic engagement and leadership skills. In addition to Natali Kenkadze, president of the International Center for Peace and Integration, who delivered the methodology and instruments on How to Train.
The trainers were granted a trainer’s certificate by the end of the ToT and became the official trainers for the two year project.
