December 1-7, 2019 , Kenya – The World Youth Alliance Africa organized their annual Furaha camp which kicked off on Sunday in the 1st of December. Campers and camp counselors all assembled at WYAA offices at Cara House for their departure to the Eagles Point Camp in Elementaita. The main target group for Furaha Camp were teenagers aged between 14 – 18 years as the camp mainly focuses on educating them about the value of the human person, human dignity and other important aspects of life in a fun way.
The first day composed of traveling from Nairobi and getting a warm welcome from the management upon arrival at camp. Campers were then divided into teams and points were awarded for excelling in all activities as well as for good conduct. All activities started the following day. The activities included morning exercises for fitness and getting ready for the day. The lessons were conducted in different sessions and also by different counselors in fun ways for the campers. Other activities such as hiking, swimming and playing indoor games were also not left out since everyone was kept occupied in different games.
Despite the heavy rains, WYAA managed to execute most of the planned activities. It was a whole new experience for the new campers and also a few other camp counselors to get a chance to sleep in tents – an experience they considered exciting and fun. All throughout the camp, campers observed their time quite well and were responsible.
No hard work goes unrewarded and so in all the activities, points were awarded and eventually the winning team was gifted on the last day of camp. Participation certificates were also given to every camper and finally the most loved part by many, the photo session was the last activity before departure from the camp.
