WYA Africa Speaks at the International Young Leaders Summit 2010
WYA Africa Director Obadias Ndaba chaired a panel discussion during the 2010 IYLS that took place in Nairobi, November 2010 under the theme ‘Young Leaders in the 21st Centery: Prospects and Challenges’. The topic of the panel discussion was ‘The Role of Young Leaders in Promoting Ethics, Integrity and Good Governance’. Panellists included Inayah Wahid (Daughter of former Indonesian President Wahid and founder of The Positive Movement),Odiambo K. Oketch ( CEO of KCDN), Ben Mulwa ( Founder of Vision 2020 Now) and Mr. Onderi Mogeni (President of Rotaract Westlands)
In His opening remarks Obadias emphasized on the importance of ethics and integrity in achieving good governance ‘Good governance requires leaders with ethical values and integrity, who feel responsability to accountability, transparency and the just use of power for the common good’ He said. All panellists emphasized the importance of ethics in good governance and shared their diverse experiences and interests.
The International Young Leaders Summit (IYLS) is an annual international conference of young leaders and professionals from around the world, dedicated to the development of a peaceful world and a prosperous environment for human development. This year’s summit attracted over 300 young leaders from around the world.
