Last December 16 (Saturday), the 2017 Barbecue Party was held at Cara House. The event served, not only as a meet and greet, but also as an end of year party for our members, alumni, and partners a few days before the Christmas festivities. We had 45 attendees that were treated to some nice “Mbuzi Choma”, a well-known Kenyan cuisine. With our emcee for the day, Wangeci Mwaniki, the event was lively and full of interactions on all matters related to World Youth Alliance and the work we have done in 2017.
The event started with registrations for all the attendees after which they were treated to snacks and entertainment while the WYA Africa team and volunteers prepared the meal for the day. The menu for the day included: roasted marinated choma, kachumbari, hotdogs and fried potatoes and fruits with some chilled juice as refreshment. Douglas Ogila, a Furaha Camp 2017 attendee, shared his wonderful experience at the camp that had concluded the previous week. Ms. Doreen Nakato, one of our Uganda National committee members, was also present to share her experience at the Youth Synod Colloquium in Rome. The closing remarks were given by Kevin Alando, our Regional Director of Operations.
We would like to thank all our attendees and volunteers who were present for contributing to the overall success of the day and hope for more interactions in 2018.
