WYA African member working for a cause! Check it out

My name is Casey Marenge and I am a member of the "World Youth Alliance".  Four years ago I was involved in a tragic road accident that stole the life of two of my friends and left me paralyzed from the shoulders down.  Over the years I have come to accept myself for who I am, learning to have self dignity and knowing that I have the potential to make a better person of myself and create a positive impact in the lives of those around me.

Close to one year ago, I started my own nongovernmental organization called Chariots of Destiny based in Nairobi whose focus is to work primarily with persons disabled or maimed especially through road traffic accidents.    The main aims of the organization include provision of wheelchair accessible transportation, creating awareness about spinal cord injuries and advocacy for the importance and relevance of road safety.  For a full profile please visit www.chariotsofdestiny.org.

"Chariots of Destiny" has teamed up with the Make Roads Safe Organization (USA) which runs under the FIA foundation, to run the "Make Roads Safe Campaign" here in .  This campaign aims at raising global public and political awareness of the road traffic injury epidemic taking place today especially in developing countries. It involves creating international awareness through the collection of signatures for a Petition to be presented at the UN General assembly in November 2007.  The campaign aims at urging the G8 and UN to prioritize Road Safety in their sustainable development agenda including the allocation of $300 million for a 10 year global action plan to improve road safety in developing nations.

I would like to invite all the members of the World Youth Alliance to show your support for this campaign and sign the petition through www.chariotsofdestiny.org.  1000 Youth between the ages of 17-25 are killed in road accidents every day!  Lets us help bring a stop to this tragedy!!!
