WYA is pleased to announce Dr. Timothy P. Flanigan as the honoree of the 2014 World Youth Alliance Dinner. The dinner will take place at the Residence of the Cardinal Archbishop of New York on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 and will be hosted by His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan.
About Dr. Timothy Flanigan:
Dr. Flanigan is the Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases at The Miriam Hospitals and Brown Medical School in Rhode Island. He has given generously to WYA’s mission: both through his leadership on WYA’s Board of Directors and through his extensive research and experience as an international HIV/AIDS Doctor. Dr. Flanigan worked closely with WYA in developing our person-centered response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, an approach that recognizes the inestimable dignity of each individual. He has spoken at the UN and at WYA-sponsored events in New York, Rome, and Rhode Island and worked with WYA to assess the HIV/AIDS response of the government of St. Lucia. He is a supporter of our 2014 International Summer Camp, the Chair of our Annual Dinners, and a long-term donor to the World Youth Alliance. We are proud to honor Dr. Flanigan, a doctor dedicated both to treating the illnesses of the body as well as tirelessly examining the question, what is best for the human person?
Dr. Flanigan also developed the HIV Core Program at the Rhode Island State Prison and is associate director of The Miriam/Brown Fogarty Program, which trains overseas investigators in HIV/AIDS. He was the recipient of a community health leadership award from The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and received an honorary doctorate from Salve Regina University in 2005 for his support of educational opportunities for children of incarcerated parents.
