December 19, 2020 – The World Youth Alliance Antique Chapter organized Project Paglaum: A Christmas Gift Giving Project to Calooy Elementary School’s multigrade students in Sibalom, Antique. The project was done in collaboration with the Ten Outstanding Pupils and Students of Antique and the 2008 Class of St. Anthony’s College High School.
A total of 43 students and four teachers received Christmas gift bags containing school supplies, hygiene kits, groceries, and a lunch meal. One of the teachers in Calooy Elementary School shared that “the students are very glad and grateful for the gifts that they’ve received. Seeing them happy and thankful makes a big impact in our community.”
One of the members of the WYA Antique Chapter also shared that “I’m grateful for the opportunity to help organize the Christmas Giving outreach project. We need to spread the message of love and hope, especially during this time of the pandemic.”
Paglaum is a word in the Hiligaynon language that means hope.
WYA Antique Chapter would like to thank all of the individual donors for their generosity.
The organizers implemented proper health protocols throughout the event. The organizers also wanted to thank the Municipal Government of Sibalom for approving the in-person event.
