WYA Celebrates with a Virtual Year Ender

December 4, 2020 – World Youth Alliance Headquarters (WYAHQ) had its first virtual year end party with the theme “Who Wants to Be the Ultimate WYA Member?” with 40 members from around the world in attendance.

The party started with brief welcome remarks from WYA President Lord Pomperada who introduced the event organizers composed of staff and HQ online interns. Participating teams, named after notable CTP authors, were then introduced: Team Nelson Mandela, Team Charles Malik, Team Viktor Frankl, Team Mahatma Gandhi, Team Dalai Lama, and Team Norman Davies.

As a game show themed party, participants played 3 intense rounds by utilizing the chat function of the call. 5 minute breaks in between rounds featured videos of WYA’s key programs like the Human Dignity Curriculum (HDC) and Fertility Education and Medical Management (FEMM). During one break, teams had the chance to earn extra points through actively participating in singalong of the song Dynamite by BTS.

The following winning teams were then announced: 1st place – Gandhi (600 points), 2nd place – Davies (500 points), 3rd place – Mandela (400). Team Mandela and Team Gandhi also emerged victorious in winning the extra points during the karaoke challenge.

At the end of the party, the WYA President expressed gratitude to those who participated and assured them that WYA will always be their home. He also emphasized his hopes that they will have a chance to have an in-person reunion in the future and encouraged everyone to stay at home despite current challenges.
