October 4, 2019, The Bronx, New York City – Around twenty faculty and staff members from the Holy Cross Elementary School were trained to teach the Human Dignity Curriculum in early October. The HDC Teacher Training focused on exploring curriculum content and interactive workshops. The training and activities were led by Lord Pomperada (WYA President), Clare Halpine (WYA Creative Director) and Mille Guzman (International Director of Operations). Following the training, Holy Cross Elementary School hopes to fully integrate the HDC into their program from Kindergarten up to Grade 8 by the end of 2019.
Since 1923, Holy Cross Elementary School has been a well-established multicultural, parish-based school community dedicated to educating children of all races, colors, and creeds, Pre-K through Grade 8. The school cultivates student’s mind and heart, and treats each child as a unique individual and gift of God.
WYA is pleased to partner with Holy Cross, spearheaded by Principal Ernie Zalamea, in bringing the HDC to their campus. The Human Dignity Curriculum is an innovative program that focuses on personal development and human dignity. Using a language for excellence, each lesson focuses on a “big picture” theme—while helping students to understand and develop healthy habits, good decision-making skills, and a strong sense of meaning and purpose.
