WYA Iloilo holds successful outreach

ILOILO CITY, December 23, 2017–The World Youth Alliance Iloilo Chapter successfully held their Christmas Outreach Party entitled Pasko sa Barrio (Christmas in the village). The program is an annual activity organized by the volunteers of the WYA Iloilo Chapter.

The Chapter celebrated Christmas with the community members of a rural area in the mountains of Maasin in Iloilo, Philippines. 50 families in total were in attendance.

WYA Iloilo Chapter President, Rejean Marie Darroca, opened the event with a short talk about WYA and human dignity, followed by talks from district local and active Chapter member, Keziah Villareal, and current WYA President, Lord Leomer Pomperada. The event was supported by the officials of the community–Hon. Mariano Malones Sr., Hon. Atty. Ma. Theresa Malones-Sanchez, Hon. Arthur M. Villareal, and Hon. Brgy. Capt. Ivan Oberio.

Members of the community took part in workshops and games centered on the core themes of the WYA advocacy–dignity, culture, and solidarity.

The young organizers capped off the event by distributing Noche Buena packages or Christmas gift bags containing rice, bread, meats, and other food items. Packages were given to each family in attendance.
