On February 26th, the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs hosted a Meeting regarding the Post-2015 Development Agenda. The event was attended by over 300 different Civil Society Organizations including WYA LA. The representatives of Civil Society expressed their points of view about the whole process of deciding the Sustainable Development Goals, and the transparency of the whole process. The Mexican Chancellery opened a forum to listen the different opinions and to discuss the future implementation of the new goals at a national level.
The presence of Civil Society happened with respect regardless of the plurality of ideas. This forum was being streamed and organizations not present could send their questions and comments through the internet.
WYA LA proposed focusing in the needs of most of the population and the inclusion of them when developing plans and actions. This is important because people represent an invaluable resource that can be used to eradicate poverty. The proposals were well-received by the participants of the forum and the Mexican Chancellery took note of all the mentioned.
