WYA Latin America is part of the OAS’s Hemispheric Forum Belem do Para +20

Stakeholders united this past 14th and 15th of May in Pachuca, Mexico to discuss the good practices and challenges for the future challenges of the Belém do Pará Inter-American Convention on the Prevention, Punishment and Eradication of Violence Against Women.

In this event many of the experts coming from Civil Society and Dependencies of the Member States claimed that the fact of not having Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) was in fact structural violence against women. The World Youth Alliance Latin America was there to promote a correct understanding of the human person and the worth and irreplaceability of every human person.

After this event Policy Makers will unite again in a future event to address the current finding and hopefully will develop strategies to attack all of this challenges with an integral understanding of the human person and integrating men as the other half of the population that many times ends up being the gender that inflicts violence against women.
