June 25, 2021 – For the second year in a row, WYA North America is hosting its annual Drinks and Discussion series online. Traditionally, these events have been held throughout the summer at the WYA Headquarters in New York City, but when the pandemic hit in 2020, they proved the perfect way to engage WYA members from North America and beyond in a virtual setting. For each event, the regional office selects a reading from the Certified Training Program, and both old and new WYA members gather to share their thoughts and meet new friends. This time, the discussion centered on “Human Dignity and Totalitarianism,” a speech given by WYA founder Anna Halpine in 2004.
Seven participants gathered from around the United States, as well as Trinidad and Tobago, and engaged in a spirited discussion of the relationship between human dignity and human rights. Of course, we couldn’t leave out the signature drinks, so participants were invited to bring their own beverage. Keep an eye out for our next Drinks and Discussion in July – complete with a new reading and signature drink recommendation!
