WYA North America Leads Workshop on Solidarity

July 11, 2020 – Certified WYA members from around the world gathered online for the World Youth Alliance North America event, “Solidarity Amidst Crisis: A WYANA Virtual Workshop on Promoting Solidarity in the US and Beyond.”

The event was designed as a response to ongoing crises in the US and around the globe, and it focused on solidarity as the necessary response during this tumultuous time. Participants discussed the key components of solidarity in light of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” Fr. Maciej Zieba’s “To Unite and Not Divide,” and Mahatma Gandhi’s “Satyagraha, Not Passive Resistance.” WYA staff also presented some practical tips for discerning whether a given policy, leader, or movement is in line with true solidarity, and the event closed with comments from participants on what they had learned.
