WYA President speaks to 6,000 youth at Antique Youth Day

December 16, 2016 – WYA President Lord Leomer Pomperada gave an inspirational message and WYA introductory talk to over 6,000 young people during the 2016 Antique Youth Day held in San Jose de Buenavista, Province of Antique, Philippines.

“Do you think young people are the problem or the solution?,” Lord asked his fellow Antiqueños. “In our world today, not everyone believes in the power of the youth. Meeting and working with young people around the world gives me greater hope for our world and future. It may not always be seen in the news but young people are doing many great things everyday,” he adds.

“10 years ago, I finished high school here in Antique. I’ve never thought that my journey would bring me to New York. If you have a dream, do your best to make it come true. Never give up. If you fail, try again. Persevere with prudence and patience. Your limitations and what people think of you shouldn’t matter. Believe in yourself. Each one of us is born for greatness,” Lord shares.

Lord introduced WYA and shared ways on how they could get involved with the organization.

“WYA has an important mission of promoting the dignity of the human person through its programs, chapters, and members around the world. WYA believes in the great potential that young people have in providing solutions to global challenges and making a difference in their own community. WYA offers different advocacy, education and cultural programs,” Lord shares.

After the talk and presentation, thousands of young people signed the WYA Charter.

The 2016 Antique Youth Day is the biggest gathering of young people in the Province of Antique representing all municipalities. The daylong event included different activities and events.
