December 11-15, 2019, Ljubljana, Slovenia – World Youth Alliance (WYA) Southeast Europe held the Certified Training Program (CTP) in the capital of Ljubljana, with the intent of establishing the WYA Slovenia Chapter.
Following months of preparation, in cooperation with the St. Stanislav’s Institute, the WYA office for Southeast Europe organized an intensive Certified Training Program in the country’s capital. The five-day training included regular sessions from the CTP, in which the young participants were introduced to the history and work of World Youth Alliance, in Europe and worldwide. They were also engaged in seven sessions of in-depth analysis and discussion about fundamental ideas behind the human dignity and the contemporary human rights project. The intensive CTP also included several documentary screenings, as well as project management and advocacy workshops.
With the successful completion of the training, everything is set for the establishment of the WYA Slovenia Chapter, which will make it the ninth WYA chapter in the Southeast Europe region. In addition to this, the training had a particular international aspect to it, as it included participants from 7 countries in total.
The participants were joined by Mr. Lojze Peterle, the former Prime Minister of Slovenia and MEP, who shared his experience from years spent at the European institutions, during which he collaborated with WYA Europe. “For those young people interested in human rights and fundamental questions of modern society, the WYA Certified Training Program offers an excellent opportunity to get basic knowledge and clear understanding.“ (Mr. Peterle)
