WYAAP Concludes Chapter Leadership Training

February 20, 2021 Manila, Philippines – World Youth Alliance Asia Pacific (WYAAP) Chapter Leaders and Philippine National Committee members recently wrapped their two-day chapter leadership training led by the WYAAP office, led by Directors Joyce Cedeño and Miko Superable.

The goal of the chapter leadership training was to increase camaraderie amongst the 20 chapters of World Youth Alliance Asia Pacific through a brief sharing of wisdom and best practices from the changes experienced the past few months.

Day 1 was entitled “The Definitive WYA leader”, and consisted of talks from active chapter heads and seasoned members of the Philippine National Committee. Opening the program was current CTP Trainer and 2021 Asia Pacific Recipient of the Viktor Frankl Award, Angelo Roxas who spoke about WYA’s role in his leadership journey. This was then followed by PNC Communications Coordinator, Stacey Bellido who talked about her current stint as part of the International Relations Research Team for the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs. The day then concluded with back to back talks with PNC Coordinator Julia Umapas who spoke about pandemic burnout and WYA Ateneo De Zamboanga Chapter Leader and former Viktor Frankl Awardee Rogin Eribal who reminisced about the early days of the ADZU Chapter.

The day also saw the chapter leaders brainstorm ideas for a pitch centered around a potential leadership program for WYA which they were tasked to present on the 2nd day.

Finally, Day 2 came and focused more on sharing tips for online engagement and fundraising. It kicked off with WYAAP Regional Director Miko Superable, giving a talk on Online engagement which was then followed by Icia Ilagan, WYA Miriam College High School Club coordinator, who talked about their Annual Diwata Concert and Nadine Medina, Woodrose Club Head, who talked about their Gabi Ng Harana fundraiser.

The day was concluded by 4 pitches from groups who shared innovative leadership program ideas for WYAAP ranging from virtual exchange programs to leadership-themed Twitch streams. WYAAP Director of Operations Joyce Cedeno ended the gathering with a heartfelt message about managerial tips and leadership.
