WYAAP Extends Gratitude by Giving Back to the Community

As per annual tradition, the World Youth Alliance Asia Pacific (WYAAP) successfully culminated its 2019 medley of activities by organizing a Christmas Outreach party with the theme “Pay It Forward” last December 7, 2019.The event sought to impart the values of family, generosity, and gratitude to the children of Barangay 746 in Malate, Manila through team games, dances, and sharing of food and gifts.

Over a hundred kids were present to witness their neighborhood street transform into a playground. Consistent with the party theme, this is WYAAP’s way of paying forward for all the great accomplishments and milestones it has achieved last year. Furthermore, it is a celebration of the partnership it has fostered with the barangay during the implementation of the Human Dignity Curriculum (HDC) in their area. In fact, more than a third of the kid participants were graduates of the said program.

After the fully interactive group games and contests, everyone gathered for a solidarity dance which was led by Mikee Turano, intern alumna. The party concluded with WYA handing out gifts and lunch sponsored by generous donors of the event.

WYAAP would like to thank the regional interns, outreach volunteers, WYA Alumni, and all our sponsors and donors for their tremendous support and presence. We are also grateful to Barangay 746 in Malate, Manila for welcoming WYAAP and allowing us to spend time with the community.
