World Youth Alliance Asia Pacific (WYAAP) gained over 200 new members in this year’s Philippine iTransform! Young Leaders Convention (PITYLC) held in Baguio City, Philippines, from September 22–26, 2016.
This year marked the fifth PITYLC, and also the fifth year WYAAP has partnered with YouthLEAD Philippines for the leadership convention.
WYAAP Regional Director, Mary Imbong, served as judge for the Kabataan Fair and the Primus Young Leaders’ Tourney – Video Making Competition. She also gave a solidarity message on the last day of the convention.
“There will come a time where you will have to choose between doing what is good and doing what is easy. My hope for you is to always choose to do what is good. Practice your freedom for excellence. I challenge you to find your why, find your how, and find your who—as young leaders, who can you inspire to make a difference?”
Mary was joined by WYAAP Director of Operations, Zarina San Jose, current regional intern Kleine Abrugena, and certified members, Jerome Culang and Bryan Meniado. Meanwhile, active WYA members Kyle Venturillo, Raxiey Adolfo and Bon Magsipoc formed part of the organizing committee of the PITYLC.
The 5th PITYLC centered on the theme, SDGs: A Transformative Journey Towards A Better Nation, A Better World by 2030. Its main goals were to raise awareness on the newly adopted Sustainable Development Goals, place them in the context of the Filipino youth, and propel them to take action within their respective communities. Over 700 leaders from around the Philippines attended the convention.
WYAAP would like to thank YouthLEAD for its continued trust in WYAAP.
