World Youth Alliance Asia Pacific (WYAAP) gained over 300 new members during the 4th Philippine ITransform! Young Leaders Convention (PITYLC) held at Baguio City, Philippines from September 19 – 21, 2015.

WYAAP served as a conference partner, with outgoing Regional Director (RD) Lord Pomperada acting as a facilitator during one of the sessions, and a judge for the Kabataan Fair and the search for Mister and Miss Paraiso. Lord also gave a solidarity message on the third day of the convention.

“We need to believe in ourselves because transformative change can only happen if we first learn to recognize our own value and talents,” he said.

He was joined by RD of Operations Zarina San Jose, intern alumni Angel dela Flor and summer camp graduates Rannz Lim and Katrina Flores. Angel, Rannz and Kat also joined the different activities for the delegates. At the end of the conference, Kat shared her PITYLC experience to over 500 participants.

“We are all creative, and even the people we lead are capable of making change. We can achieve change if we all work together,” she emphasized.

This year the PITYLC focused on the theme, “Good Governance: Empowering Sustainability and Convergence.” The convention tackled the role of transparency and good governance in the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), and eventually the Sustainable Development Goals.

The ITransform! Campaign, organized by YouthLEAD Philippines, was started in 2012 to “galvanize action among young Filipinos to make a difference in their communities by working with fellow youth in identifying problems and issues related to the MDGs.” The PITYLC serves as an avenue for young Filipinos to share their innovative ideas in solving these problems. It is open to Filipino high school and university students.

WYAAP would like to thank YouthLEAD for giving us the opportunity to be part of its events and conferences. If you wish to invite WYAAP to partner with your organization, you may send an e-mail to asiapacific@wya.net.
