WYA Asia Pacific Regional Director Lord Pomperada was the Keynote Speaker during the YouthSpeak Southeast Asian Youth Forum held at the University of the Philippines-Diliman last May 20.
Lord shared his experiences as a former Philippine Youth Ambassador in 2013 visiting Japan and select Southeast Asian countries, and working with different Southeast Asian youth in World Youth Alliance.
“We need to have greater youth collaboration in Southeast Asia (SEA). As youth leaders, it is important to have a vision not only for ourselves but for our own country and for the Southeast Asian region. Travel often, learn different cultures and study new languages in Southeast Asia. My experience in working with different young people and traveling across the region has taught me so many things and had led me closer to my dreams. The possibilities brought about by the ASEAN integration are endless,” Lord shared.
The forum was a one-day youth gathering that aimed to engage and inspire the Southeast Asian youth through different innovative talks, panel discussions and workshops. With the theme “Involving Me, Evolving SEA,” YouthSpeak 2015 aimed to strengthen regional collaboration through cultural familiarity, to recognize ASEAN problems and craft solutions through project creation, and to equip the youth of SEA with the skills necessary to boost mobility, productivity, and motivation. The forum was organized by AIESEC Philippines.
