WYALA Celebrates World Day Against Trafficking in Persons

July 31, 2020, Latin America – WYA Latin America had the privilege to have Andrea Guadarrama, a WYA member for 15 years, speak about the “Victims’ Hidden Realities in Latin America” in celebration of World Day against Trafficking in Persons. Guadarrama shared her extensive knowledge about the process in which victims go through, the stigmas that they deal with, and the re-victimization in the institutional processes.

The audience was deeply impacted by Guadarrama’s stories from the moment she began her talk. The biggest lesson she wanted the participants to take from the event was that not everything is black and white. There are different types of victims and one can be the victim and victimizer at the same time. Nevertheless, everyone has human dignity, should be treated with respect, and should be guaranteed their fundamental human rights.

For those who didn’t have the opportunity to attend, they may watch the recording of the online event on the WYA Latin America Facebook page
