2nd Place: Vanessa Montes de Oca Yglesias
3rd Place: Steve Barquero

The following photos were taken by our WYALA members. The pictures demonstrate how they contributed in their communities to put sustainable development in action. Here are their stories:

FIRST PLACE:

The photo was taken in the indigenous region of Shiroles (Talamanca) in Costa Rica, near the border with Panama.

Towards Sustainable Development, university students participated in the construction of a school for the children.

"The picture to me represents hope. Future generations will be aware of the heritage but also of responsibility to promote education and values such as respect for the environment and the defense of life. I think all leads to hope, although we see just a base of a tree, the image tells us to take action to change the irreversible damage against nature"
