WYAME’s Intern Qualified to Participate in the Qatar Debate Championship

wafa-1Qatar Debates is organizing its 4th International Universities Arabic Debating Championship in Doha in April 2017. This event brings together young debaters from Europe, North America, Africa, Central Asia, and the Middle East. The main topics of the debate are pressing issues evolving around human rights, political and social issues, education, etc.

Ms. Wafa Garbout, who is currently an active member and intern at the World Youth Alliance Middle East office, will be participating in this outstanding event. She is a social activist, debater and debate trainer with IDEA, as well as a student of Political Science: International Affairs.

The Lebanese American University (Byblos Campus) held a mini-debate on the 20th of October in order to select the finalists for the Lebanese team that will be competing at the 4th International Universities Arabic Debating Championship. Ms. Wafa demonstrated excellent debating skills and professional public speaking, allowing her to win the competition and become part of the finalists.

This event is an outstanding opportunity for young people from all over the world to come together and share ideas, learn more about the diverse cultures, ideologies, and ethnicity. WYA Middle East is proud to have one of its members as a participant in this prestigious event.
