On January 22nd members of the World Youth Alliance joined over 200,000 participants at Washington D.C. for the March for Life. This event was held on the 42nd anniversary of Roe vs. Wade., the decision made by the Supreme Court, which legalized abortion in 50 states in the United States. March for Life began as a small demonstration but has evolved into one of the largest peaceful marches in the world. The March this year was joined by many groups and individuals that expressed their concern for one of the most significant human rights violations in the country: legalized abortion.
From large groups and churches to sympathetic individuals the March for Life unified people from across the country to stand up for life. Despite the outcomes and decisions made by the government, the marchers were successful in spreading awareness and making their voices heard.
In preparation for the event, various groups from New York assembled at an event held prior to the March at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington, DC. The World Youth Alliance had the opportunity to set up a booth and speak with many of the youth about our mission to promote human dignity and were compelled to sign the charter to aid in giving a greater voice to the youth at the United Nations. One of our staff members was also able to say a few words about WYA’s history, our goals and mission, and how to get involved. As an organization that promotes human dignity, members of WYA took pride in participating at the March for Life in the defense of innocent unborn children and spreading much needed awareness for the cause.
