On 3-4 August, interns from Canda, Nicaragua, Kenya, and the United States joined WYA North America for reflection and discussion on the topic of HIV/AIDS.
This training was conducted with the nine members of WYA’s delegation to the XVI International AIDS Conference. The discussions ranged from analysis of current national policies and foreign aid programs to amplification on the experience of the persons with the disease. Above all, participants stressed the importance of both pillars of prevention and treatment, and reinforced their commitment to the integral development of the human person on all levels: physical, mental, social, spiritual, and cultural.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. John Cahill of St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital for his fascinating presentation on the causes, prevention, and health care issues of the disease.
